This illustration is to show just how far you can reach if you just push through the struggles in pain in life and just soar. This builds off the meaning of the Masked Identity project, this illustration shows how when you push through the sadness, pains, and struggles in life, you not only grow as a person, but you become so much stronger and how the sky is the limit. The illustration gives a sense of hope to those who are struggling in their life and encourage them to push past it to gain an inner strength and confidence that will make them soar. For the process, I first took the original image from my Masked Identity project and took it to photoshop. In photoshop, I used the magnetic lasso tool to select the body, the inverted the selection as to delete the background and hair from the model. Focused Space The two pieces are focused on the element of space and the principle of focal point. The piece that resembles space was crafted using several pieces of wood all sanded down to a triangular shape and held together using straight pins and wood glue. The wood glue gives a very smooth texture to the wood on the parts it covers. The space was created by connecting the triangular shapes to make an irregular open sided pyramid. The space was then enclosed by making a netting using string formed from rolled up masking tape. Making this netting closes off the opening and creates a unique space of its own disconnected from where its placed, yet still visible to viewers. Lost at Sea When it comes to memory, I do not remember so much as instances, but emotion. When I was younger, all I remember were times when I was happy and when I was sad, there was not much more than those two feelings when I was younger. As I started to grow, my capacity for emotions and my ability to understand them grew wider and wider. While emotions became more complex, they still ranged in two ways, bad and good. This piece portrays my life and how I have travelled these emotions and have experienced the many highs an lows I have experienced as well as the times of complacency and numbness. At the beginning, the ocean was small and there is not much to explore, but what I gained the capacity to travel farther, it lead me to new depth and heights. The paper which these emotional islands and crevices are placed on represent how unstable the ocean we travel is and how it can easily expand if we just learn how to move past the borders. Beautiful Misery When I think of masked identity, I see someone who is trying not to conceal their face, but who they are on the inside. By hiding who they are, they conceal the parts that the other should know by showing only what they want others to see. They entice people with the fantasy they present, hiding facts about them that could hurts others behind a beautiful facade, thus the transformation from a purple bloom to represent fantasy, to a rich blue of thorns to represent the melancholy that represents the sorrow they bring to those who are not wary. People are scared of revealing everything about themselves to others out of fear of being rejected as s people might not want to deal with someone that could hurt them, so they draw them in using selective facts about themselves to attract others. The ring seen on the model holds a ruby, which symbolizes life-force and courage, to symbolize the courage needed to keep growing and how much more ful
